welcome to the authentic sisterhood podcast. Michael is inspiring to chase joy. No matter the difficulties you face in life through self discovery, personal growth and finding community in connection, you too can become a joy chaser. I'm your host, Nicole. Welcome to the sister. I'm so excited. Thio bring you the next series of episodes. We're going to be going through the sneak peek videos from the different courses that are launched in the Academy. Right now there's eight of them. So I broke it up into four episodes, So each episode we'll have to sneak peeks. I was gonna do all one episode and then I really is. That was gonna be, like hours long. So I've broken up into four episodes that this episode is Part one. We're going to be listening to homeschool with Pedagogy with Christy Morris. And then we're going to be checking out pay your debts the right way with Britney Harper. So I hope you enjoyed this episode. Keep listening form or sneak peeks into the academy

with Christie. Today she's gonna tell us about her upcoming course homeschool with pedagogy, and she will tell me if I am telling pronouncing that right or not, I could be totally off home. Schooling. Maybe unexpectedly, this could be super helpful. Awesome resource, Rio. Um, so with four, we dive in. I just want to take a second. Thio. Acknowledge kind of the chaos. It's happening around us. I'm in Houston right now in our city. Goes on lock down tonight Steve's in California and also in lock down. So, um, we're all in this together and I didn't plan for all this to be happening in the midst of this. I feel like it's good timing, though I feel like this meets a need that we all presently have overall. And I am excited about Christie's course, and I feel like it couldn't be more timely, though we were planning it before things got really crazy. Um, and that's kind of been the whole thing with the academy. All of these things were planning. Four things start crazy, and it just like all this makes sense now, eh? So I just want to, like, acknowledge where we're at and that things are kind of stressful and crazy. And the hope here is that the academy bring some peace with that. The courses offered here, bring some calm into the chaos of your life and that we're able to help you find just a good rhythm that were able Thio help you learn new skills that you suddenly need to figure out. So without further ado and bring Christy on to join me here. Hey, Christie. Huh? You look gorgeous as ever. Uh, Okay. So first, tell me, did I say pedagogy, right? No, for Gogi. And that means yes. That would be the next question, though.

spk_2:   3:07
If you don't know what pedagogy means, it's basically just like the actual approach and skill of teaching. So for those of us guys that have a bachelor's degree in education, we specifically study pedagogy like that's our field of study.

spk_1:   3:21
Awesome. Okay, um, so tell me a little bit about you. Like, what brings you to, like, Why are you interested in this? Are you home school, mom? Or like what? What's your background?

spk_2:   3:33
Yeah, So it's, um I come from a really unique perspective. Okay. I'm not a home school parent. I'm not a parent at all. I'm a teacher, a classroom teacher. However, I work for a charter school in California. That actually is a homeschool hybrid. So the kids come to school two days a week, and then they're home schooled rest of the time. And it is my job to kind of help along and supplement some learning for those kids and help the A teacher at home to be as successful as they can with home schooling. And we're just kind of a resource and kind of creating like a small classroom environment. But really, we're all about helping the parents teach at home. And so I'm really excited to expand that to not just my school and the parents that are on my case load currently. But other home school parents as well. I mean, this is what I do for a living. So I want to just help some other home school parents and give them three sources and some skills and some techniques. If they're struggling with something, how can I help that kind of thing?

spk_1:   4:31
Awesome. That sounds like you're, like, really, uniquely qualified for first. Like, this is a perspective. Yeah, I love that. That's so awesome. Okay, so tell me about who might be the perfect fit like my mom's watching. Like if she's home schooled before like is this helpful? If she's brand new and like Oh, we're suddenly home schooling because of social distancing, like who does this course hit for? I

spk_2:   4:58
think it could fit for anyone. It can fit for moms who maybe have like, absolute babies, and they're considering home schooling. And they kind of want to take a peek at what that might look like. I think it's great. For months we've been home schooling for years. It's just a great there's gonna be a lot of helpful content that even if you're already so comfortable and confident with your home schooling, um, to just be able to gain a network and some, you know, new resource is and some new way of thinking of things, I think it could be benefit for anyone.

spk_1:   5:25
So, um, what kind of resource is will I get from this? Like, what struggles might I be having in my home schooling If either way, if I've been home schooling for a while or if I'm brand new home schooling like, what kind of struggles are you helping with that? Like I can, like, practically get from this course.

spk_2:   5:43
So we're gonna talk about like depths of knowledge for kids. So kind of how to scaffold material and build off of a kid's schema. And I'm gonna go over all this in the course, Like what these words mean, Right? So it's kind of like when you first learn math. I'm just gonna use math as the example. First, you learn like numbers, right when they are annular had account, and then you learn how to add, and then you won't have a mold by, and you kind of need one step before you go to the other. And so I'm gonna be talking a lot about scaffolding and building scheme for kids. A lot about death of knowledge. Like, how do we get more understanding from kids instead of just like surface understanding where they're just were fighting something they memorized how to know that they really truly understood what they read instead of just like pulling information and regurgitating information, if that makes sense.

spk_1:   6:31
Yeah. Awesome. That sounds amazing. Um, awesome. So Okay, so your course starts on the sixth. Yeah, I'd like to, if

spk_2:   6:43
that's OK. I like God put just so that we can get more people to sign up I want to have, like, a really long time for people to sign up. And then a soon as they get into the course, there's already gonna be the first unit for them to do there straight away whenever they get logged in. But then I won't continue to post units until the six.

spk_1:   7:02
Okay, sounds great. Um, and how much is the course cost?

spk_2:   7:05
It is $10 for a 10 day

spk_1:   7:07
course. Okay. Perfect. Um, and then where? Like I guess, Because everybody else doesn't know some of the dynamics of the courses you do because you've experienced one with me. But just for everyone else watching some of the values of the courses within the academy is that we want to make it fun, because, I mean, you're not gonna do anything optional unless it's at least a little bit funny, even if it's really valuable. Um, we also want to make it community oriented. So in addition to building a relationship with Christy and getting her as a mentor and helper and support in these new things that you're struggling a learned through, you're also going Teoh. Then get access to this other community of moms that are in the same shoes as you and trying to learn along. And Christie is excellent at facilitating, um, community relationships and just like helping foster those those relationships. So, um, I know that this course will be beneficial not just for the value of the information that she's gonna bring, but also for, um, just like the community. And the resource is that you'll get by being a part of the fun and things that she has. Frio. So awesome. All right, Is there anything else you want to add about your course before we jump off?

spk_2:   8:37
I don't think so, But people are more than welcome coming on this video or send me a message. If you guys have any questions, anything I can clarify. Um, I'm just really excited.

spk_1:   8:46
Yeah, Awesome. I'm super excited to We want the home school, so I will definitely be signing up for course to learn a little bit more about getting ready, like mentally for that. And if you hear So you would like, as we jump in a free school stuff. So I'm excited. So I said, Well, thank you so much, Christy, You have a good evening. Thank you all right, guys? I love shouting with Christy a little bit more about that course. I think that's gonna be so amazing. So if you haven't noticed we are playing a game with the lives of because there's, like, a whole bunch of them, but the rather short. So what we're gonna dio is if you answer my secret question that I'm going to give you in just a minute on every single live, you're gonna get entered into our raffle to win a free entry into any course that you'd like to take. So there's also another post in the announcements in the group that you could comment on. And by commenting on that, you'll also get another entry into a raffle to win a promo code to be able to attend any course for free with the launch. So my secret question is, describe your favorite socks. I'm so excited to tell you about the next course that we have coming out on the academy launching next week. I'm gonna be chatting with Britney this evening with you, and she's going to telling us about her course. Pay your debts the right way, and I'm so excited So let's bring Britney on here. Hey, Britney, Go. Welcome. Um Okay, so tell me just a little bit about yourself because I was reading your by a little bit and I'm like, I'm fascinated to tell me about you. Um, so I'm from South Georgia. Obviously, the country accident drove it. And I went to school about going bachelors degree and everything. Business and economic development. I'm so long term. One day still, you know, game plan is Thio blown bookstore e e. I love it. Um, you know, into the garage. And from there, I mean, at that time, you know, college pay wasn't making any money kind of thing on. Um I got my degree and jumped straight into work and, like, work through the ranks and ended up being a manager with personal love. Then with my daughter, Harmless Uhd and no, not we decided that it was time for me. Just be a home. Maybe maybe you guys to school, man, she gets home schooled. We'll see awesome eso for because the audience this is going thio I know what the C h. D is cause I'm personally affected by it, but they may not know. So can you tell us a little bit about your daughter? And kind of like why That meant uses Stay home. Yes, O C H D is the congenital heart defect she actually has to. And when she's hot sudden before the other one's actually monitoring to see it's possibly surgery went down it, um but basically she has surgery at three months old and it was really scary. And thankfully, my drop was able Thio let me have time off. So, um, I was able to be there with her the entire time and when she recovered everything and then it got down to who's gonna watch her visiting her, who's gonna because she was still honestly, she was even still getting her voice, but because she had been intimating, Yeah, I just couldn't imagine my mike someone watching her and her prom. And you, you know? Yes, Ideo Mimi's lucky she gets to watch him. I'm a little possessive. My mother watched her for about a month while are all about the work. And then on as we were trying to figure out who was in a watcher and everything, my mother watched her and like she was costly. Centime text based. She helpful. Look, being away and I got news. I was just like it. No, this is not gonna work through this on it, like, Okay, can we financially handle this? Are we gonna be? Oh, you know, you budgeted. So I'm I had figured out, but we're working. Yeah. Awesome. For those of you watching, if you have any questions for Britney about her course coming out, feel free to drop those in the comments. We can see them as we're chatting with Theo. So, um Okay, So tell me a little bit about your course. I'm really excited about this. Um, I don't know if you could just hear Henri's like, yeah, yeah. Apparently he's excited, too. Uh, tell me about your chorus and kind of what inspired you brought you to this place. So, honestly, um, what inspired me or what government to this point was I I've been asking my husband because, you know, I was doing this, uh, your course, um, this out host, of course. And also joined to become a heist. And I was talking about you know what? Your good? Uh, I look at her husband's like it was good at e create over someone, uh, what I'm good at and you know it back and forth and something I've actually been helping our little brother own. He's 18 and has already managed Thio Rock a visit it completely helping him own is figured out a way to pay it off and the quickest, best way for him to pay it off so that he can get his credits. Group. Yeah, I'm meeting to have your cut. A score tank is not a good start. Allies in 18. No. Wild. Crazy, huh? Get Don't get me wrong. But kids, I said, Yeah, and so that you know what? Well, let's see. I cannot do that for everyone. That was like, There's a lot of people who are trying to budget. They don't have the money, but and they're drowning in debt. We have a hospital builds and we're trying to get paid off. They really gone. I'm all paid all As of this part, I'm interested ve and I mean we're early on to the game. She's only 11 bud. So let's see what have the hospital bills get crazy. So, kudos to you, that's that's a huge win. Um, so a little bottles, Of course. It's really just to help you come up with the gangplank. You're feeling overwhelmed at all, and you just you don't know where to start. I can help you, Okay? You break it down bit by bit. You know, It won't just be completely, like pushed on you, like, piece by piece will break it down. What you need to look at and then we'll come up with a game plan that works best for you so that when you go off after the seven day course, you know where to go. Because obviously, you know, paying a debt off in today's Sorry, No miracle. Um, after the seven days, my goal is for you to have a plan that you feel comfortable in and confident in. And you know where you're going with it after you know how to deal with all this craziness that's going on the road right now? Yeah. I wish that this had been available. It's, like, 10 years ago for me because, um, I had a situation where I was drowning in medical debt and just like I was unprepared for hey, urine and Dole And that means you have to pay. All your copays and deductibles will still cover insurance. But that heart still in you. Um and that was a lot. And I was kind of sickly eso I had a lot of medical bills and I was drowning in them. And I hid from them, which makes it so much worse, Like, you know, like I just like I didn't just throw them away because I just couldn't even deal with it Or they would, like, sit in a pile. And we dressed her in my room like the pile would grow. And then when they start changing colors, I'd like Okay, maybe I should open it, so I Yeah, I wish I had access to this course back in those days when I was terrified of debt. So it sounds to me like you could take some of the scariness out of it and help come up with a game plan and remove the overwhelm. Is that kind of the idea? Yeah. So I'm just trying to make sure that everyone has understanding what is our clear They drawn obey too much into it. But you know what are you what are you actually were your goals. Yeah, you're trying to pay it off eventually, 20 years from now, you looking like, Hey, I want to get this paid off. Involve years like reasonable goal or ah, set up a goal. Really? My husband just listens to us. Thank you for the year. So I set a goal. You know, I want to pay my Carl faster. I don't like having a car notes. And so out of six, you're, um, loan on it and you get paid off in three years. And that right there was just, like, the most relief that I could have. Yeah, that last time it didn't. You know, this happened and it was just like, ma'am, I'm so glad I had that in place. And even now, like also, we get more bills because just because you have your But this doesn't mean officer, you know, you're still come. Yeah, we're still come, Thio, You know, we have this plan in place. We know what we need to do, and we're able to keep our credit score up because in case we do have an emergency and we don't have the funds, we can go to the bank and get a loan. And we're not gonna have to worry because we've paid off our other debt and credit scores look good. Aah! Look, I said it really is for anyone who just will never win. They want some extra help. Now, if you're a financial guru or be honest, this isn't for you, like gardening together. But if you're just looking every day regular person like me, like I was, who just needs a little extra help, like breaking it down. I've got you. And like we knew when I was 20 and hiding from my dad. Yeah, I e All right. I look so you have some viewers. Did you guys have any questions for Britney about her course?
